Anchored in Ensenada Venao, Panama.

We arrived here on Boxing Day after a fast overnight sail from the Las Perlas, making the 89 miles in a little over 13 hours! We were helped along by 1 – 2 knots of current that flows out of the Gulf of Panama to the south west. Robb, Khulula’s latest crew, was treated to the full gamut of sailing experiences; a beautiful sunset followed by catching two tuna’s as we were putting in a reef in the main sail, avoiding tankers at night, and dolphin’s surfing the bow wave at dawn. Good times.

Our sleepless night was rewarded by a surprisingly protected anchorage with a nice beach break to surf; we’ve been fully taking advantage of that for the past two days. We’re looking forward to the arrival of the other Rob (of Livity fame) tonight. With a rare southern swell on the way, our biggest dilemma now is where we should be to surf it…
