We left Rodedero Beach off Santa Marta at 01:30 this morning, aiming to cross the mouth of the Rio Magdelena at first light. This was to allow us to see any debris that the river was spewing out. Unexpected calm winds had us motoring all night, and with a broken autopilot, it was a bit of a hassle steering til dawn. Fortunately as the sun rose, so did the wind… rapidly. It was soon blowing 20 – 30, and has been all day. Our trusty windvane is driving again, and we’re just trying to avoid the random soaker waves that splash the cockpit and crew. Everyone is stoked to be on the way to the San Blas Islands.
