After a day and night of big squalls, heavy rain and shifting winds, the sun this morning rose to a much calmer and settled looking scene. Fishing lines went out and a small mahi mahi was promptly caught, filleted and put in the fridge for dinner. Yesterday, the entire crew of Khulula was out on deck searching for squalls and fresh water showers. Finally, at around 4pm, we got caught by one, reefed the sails down considerably and got out the soap. Fresh water showers were had by all and the musty dirty odour on SV Khulula was replaced by the smell of apple dish washing soap (we couldn’t find the other soap). During the night, Ryan and Hugh were both fortunate enough to get caught in additional squalls. Nothing ruins a good night shift so completely as a big squall filled with gusty winds and torrential downpours ! Lets hope this is not a continuing theme…
