Position Report: 19 August 2010

Khulula, the salmon fishing machine! On our way out of Quatsino sound this morning we thought we’d put our deep-sea fishing techniques into play in salmon territory, despite being told by seasoned fishermen in Winter Harbour that we’d need a downrigger to catch salmon. Well, wouldn’t you know that within 5 minutes of the pink lure being in the water, it was hit. The first and second fish got away, but the third one hit hard on the other lure, rigged to a proper rod and reel. After a hard fought battle, we had a 15lb Coho on the deck and being filleted. Mmmmm… its good to be home!
