The Algalita Marine Research Foundation, the leading expert on plastic marine pollution in the North Pacific Gyre,  and the 5 Gyres Project team will complete its 8th gyre expedition arriving in Vancouver on July 27th. The 20-day research expedition from Hawaii to Vancouver is studying the accumulation and ecological impacts of plastic marine pollution in the North Pacific Gyre, a swirling oceanic current system in which land based trash accumulates. Media, school kids and interested parties are invited to interview the crew and see gyre samples from the expedition on July 28th in Cole Harbor, 10:30 am.

Who: The Algalita Marine Research Foundation and crew from Pangaea Explorations, a crew of 13 including scientists, sailors, journalists, and artists, lead by Algalita researcher Dr. Marcus Eriksen.

What: Reception to meet the crew, and see ocean samples containing plastic and zooplankton, collected in the North Pacific Gyre.
