Plastic Debris on Beach Traps Turtles.

Christmas Island is an Australian island, which lies just east of Cocos Keeling and just west of Bali, Indonesia. After all the pollution we found on the island of Cocos Keeling (click here), it was not suprising to see this footage of baby turtles getting stuck in the large pieces of plastic debris that have washed up on the beaches of Christmas Island.

As the narrator says,“It is our responsiblity to keep our beaches clean”. This is incredible important, so go and join your local surfrider chapter (click here), or attend an International Coastal Clean-Up Day (click here). Yet being proactive and reducing the amount of disposable plastics in your everyday life is the always the best way to go.
