Woo hooo!!! We’re finally underway from New Zealand! Yesterday afternoon, April 30th, Khulula cast off her dock lines and set sail for Vanuatu. Exactly 1 year to the day that we pulled out of Vancouver in Bryson’s trusty truck Wilfred on our mission to Mexico to start this whole adventure. We had quite a ‘spirited’ ride on our first night out at sea, winds were 20 – 25 knots from the west with some large swells running from seemingly every direction… the motion was less than ideal, unfortunately a few of the crew suffered from ‘mal de mer’ and had to make some hasty trips to the rail. The seasickness meds are now taking effect and everyone is looking much less green! The upside is that the boat speed was up all night and we’ve put 100 miles under the keel already!

More to come soon…

The first of many thanks:

To all our friends in New Zealand who made the past 5 months so memorable. Adi, Mike, Mel, Shane, Jo, Dean, Rangi, Jean-Luke, Andrew, Val, Pete, Stu, and other soon to be named, don’t know where we’d be without all of you. As we pulled out yesterday we were looking longer over the stern than the bow of Khulula!
