We’re often asked a question along the lines of “Have you seen any incredible wildlife/sea life”. The answer is yes, but not as often as you might imagine. But then again, we spend a lot of time staring at an unending horizon. There have been close encounters with whales, giant ray sightings, leaping seals, lone sharks, and plenty more.

However, what we’ve witnesses over the past three days can only be described as a phenomenon.

We have seen literally hundreds of green turtles as we’ve been sailing up the Mexican coast. During the day as we’ve been sailing along at 5 knots / hr for the past 72 hours not more than 15 minutes has passed with out us spotting a turtle lazily floating on the surface of the ocean. We’ve seen them in pairs, on their own, some as big as 1.5m! Just this morning we had 5 in sight at once! Now while our own count isn’t that impressive on its own; maybe couple hundred, you can imagine that we’re only spotting the ones within 50 or so meters of the boat. If we’ve seen as many as we have the narrow strip we’ve traversed, there must be thousands out here.
