OceanGybe has been hard at work on Tide Lines, the OceanGybe documentary, and we have just launched our Kickstarter Campaign. Please follow the link, watch the clip, forward to as many people as you can. One of the real rewards of the trip has been sharing our experiences with the aim of convincing people of what we have been convinced ourselves – there is no-place in the world for single-use plastic, and that we can do better. We have been fortunate to chat to over 15 000 students globally as well as being invited to speak at:

5th International Marine Debris Conference, Hawaii
EPiC Sustainable Living Expo
Environment Canada
Vancouver Island Waste Management Conference
Pacific Rim Whale Festival, Uclulet
University of Victoria Alumni Days
Canadian Chef’s Congress

Along with those and various other presentations during the past year, we spent an intensive two weeks in June touring western Canada giving presentations at elementary and high schools. We visited 18 different schools and spoke with over 2500 students. What continues to strike us through all our talks is what we all sometimes take for granted – that the amount of disposable plastic on the beaches and in the ocean is well known – it is not ! This is why it is important to keep spreading the word about what we saw on beaches around the world. This is also why all three of us are so excited about what is coming up next for Oceangybe.

In the time we’ve been back our good friend and talented film maker Andy Naysmith has been busy compiling and editing the hours of video footage shot during the trip. In May this year the Oceangybe documentary “Tide Lines” will be finished. Our short teaser has already been extremely well received and won the C-Blue Film Festival last year.

Today, I am asking you to check out the Kickstarter campaign we have launched to raise funds to complete the film and make it broadcast-ready. The majority of the film has been completed through the generous donation of time and services of some very talented people, however there are a number of things that can’t be done by
volunteers.  We are aiming to raise $10,000 through the Kickstarter, but we need to achieve this target in order to receive any of the money that has been pledged (this is how Kickstarter works).  Please check out the fun and awesome reward levels available, and help us take Tide Lines to the world!

Let me know if you have any questions about Tide Lines or the Kickstarter, please send us and e-mail and we would be happy to chat with you about it.

Thanks !

Bryson, Hugh and Ryan.
