During 2008 more than 10,000 nautical miles have passed beneath Khulula’s hull. Now, bobbing in the industrial setting of Port Elizabeth’s Algoa Bay Yatch club, she will have a deserved rest and await the return of her crew in the new year. She has been fully repaired after her adventures in the Transkei and is resting up for another year on the high seas!

While Khulula rests, her crew will be spending Christmas amidst the turmultous beauty of Zimbabwe in the rainy season. On “Pezulu” (meaning ‘up on top’ in Ndebele) the family farm, we will spend a festive season reminiscent of our youth – climbing Skonk (a granite batholith that towers over the farm), swimming in Mermaids Pool (natural rock slide), having braais at Fern Creek (the dam with all the memories), hiking to the Rain Goddess’ Cave and watching the awesome power of nature in the violent daily afternoon lightning storms… Thanks to Cessie and the Goddards for arranging everything to making this possible!
