The predicted wind shift and ease finally came this afternoon, giving Khulula and her crew a much needed relief from the beating of the previous 5 days. With the wind more off our beam, the ride is much smoother and the flying spray less. Also the water has turned from its usual deep blue to a dark, almost ‘British Racing Green’ colour, evidence of the worlds largest river only a few miles to our west. There were bucket showers all round this afternoon, and everyone is excited for landfall tomorrow on Ils du Salut, the former French penal colony.
