Isla Cebaco

For the past few days its just been Rob (of Livity Fame) and I (Hugh) anchored off a spectacular beach on the south coast of Isla Cebaco. It is about as remote as you can get in the part of Panama, maybe even on the west coast of Central America…

And what did we find on the beach? Yup, you guess it, an alarming amount of plastic litter. All the usual suspects: water bottles, oil bottles, tooth brushes, lighters, syringes, bottle caps, plastic pellets, hard hats (yup, two), a fridge door. We collects pellets for the Pellet Watch program in Japan, took plenty of pictures and video, and shook our heads.

What is especially interesting about the amount of trash on the beach is that the dominant wind direction in this area is North East or off-shore; stuff should be getting blown OFF this beach, not on to it. Hmm… I pondered this while bobbing in the water yesterday, and I will synthesize my thoughts in a blog soon. I promise.
