After a false start on Nov 13th, Khulula finally got underway on the 3rd year of the OceanGybe Expedition. True to sailor lore, leaving any major port on a Friday is ill-fated, particularly if that date is Friday the 13th ! The foolhardy crew of Khulula departed Trinidad full of excitement and joy, rushing along in the helpful current for about an hour before discovering that the entire bilge was filled with water. Luckily, it was fresh water and the source was easily located – a large gash in our fresh water tank. Thus we fought our way back against the current, fitted a new water tank, got a good nights sleep and left in the early hours yesterday. Fantastic sailing thus far, dolphins frolicking, tunes playing and a crew of happy sailors. More tomorrow… – Major Corporal Drill Sergeant Robertson
