We left the incredibly blue waters of the south Cocos atoll at 1pm yesterday and headed into rough and windy seas. During our time in Cocos the wind blew relentlessly between 15 and 25 knots, always out of the SE. With a highest point of ~5m about sea level, there isn’t any protection from the wind anywhere, and it infuses your very lifestyle. So, after long, wet dingy missions to Home Island for food, diesel and water, we pulled up the anchor and got underway. As always, it was super nice to get out and on our way. Also, this time we were leaving boats behind – the desolate anchorage we were greeted with less than a week ago now contained three other boats, all bound for Rodriguez too! Two of the four will be leaving today and tomorrow, so we will be largely sharing similar patches of ocean over the next two weeks, and bantering on the radio a bunch. The crew of s/v Khulula is very happy for the company! Apologies for the random and disjointed report, they will get a little more concise as the sea legs return 🙂
